Despite undergoing safety testing in multiple animal species, many drugs fail clinical trials due to safety issues. Predictability limitations of human safety in animal models are often due to subtle, contextual differences that can only be understood after failure in humans. To this end, a client requested development of a series of in vitro assays to identify biological mechanisms for off-target effects observed in animal studies.
